The topsoil
pile appears to be stable, but could benefit from some seed application to protect against weed infestation.
The permit boundary markers were still in place. However, the mine identification sign has been knocked down and is
illegible due to numerous bullet holes through it. CDOT will need to replace this sign and send documentation of the
replacement, to the Division, by May 31, 2000.
Sheep were grazing the site during the inspection.
No significant erosion was noted. The time of year and recent grazing made for tough plant identification, so no noxious
weeds were positively identified.
The topsoil pile appears to have been used for a backstop for firearm target practice, and some of the target materials have
been left behind as trash. The trash should be cleaned up so the site does not become a dumping ground.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to:
Division of Minerals and Geology, 701 Camino Del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Steve Shuey, phone
no. 970-247-5062.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Weldon Allen
OPERATOR Colorado Deoartment of Transoortation
STREET 606 South 9th
CITY/STATE2IP Grand Junction.
