(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1979-053
INSPECTION DATE 12/04/01 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Minerals and Geology's (DMG) regular monitoring program. The
Clifton Water Gravel Pit is a 112c sand and gravel pit located at the end of 34 Road and E ~/a Road. Inclement weather was
moving in at the time of the inspection, however R did not impede the visit. The inspector was accompanied by the operator's
representative Mr. Ed Settle.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12. The
entrance is protected by a six foot chain link fence. Corner markers are t-post that were clearly visible. The north and east
sides boundaries are delineated by a barb wired fence. The south boundary is an approximately 50 foot buffer zone adjacent
to the Colorado River. The west boundary is open to a Clifton Water material storage area.
No current mining was observed at the site. Approximately 8 acres of the permitted site has been disturbed. Mining has been
completed ih this area. A large stockpile of materials was noted and corresponds with the mining plan map. Evidence of
stockpile removal was observed. The 4 acres identified as Phase 1 in the mining plan has been graded and the slopes were
observed to be 3H:1 V as required in the reclamation plan. Grand Junction Pipe has seeded the slopes above the projected
water line, however it was not possible to assess the success of these efforts do to the time of the growing season.
Topsoil and overburden stockpiles are separated and adequately protected from erosion as required.
No significant infestations of noxious or other problematic weeds were noted on site during this inspection.
All stonnwater control measures appear to be functioning. No significant erosional features were noted on the affected areas
of the site.
The reclamation cost estimate was recalculated as part of this inspecticn. The current estimate was recalculated and the
operation is in compliance with the approved mine plan and reclamation plan. The current financial warranty is believed to be
adequate to reclaim the site per the approved reclamation plan.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Ed Settle
OPERATOR Grand Junction Pioe 8 Suoolk
STREET P.O.
