III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the coal Ridge Mine conducted by lim
f3urne1l of CDMG, on Tuesday, October 4, 2005. The weather was
cloudy and cool with periodic drizzle. The permit area was deserted.
The permit sign was posted at the entrance road; the information was
correct.
The permanent road was in excellent condition.
Cover over the site was good, with western wheatgrass and mountain brome
predominating the vegetation with some basin wild rye, rubber rabbitbrush
and sagebrush.
There was a small amount of water in both pond cells. The pond
embankments were stable. The ditch was dry and clear of debris.
The upper slopes were stable, including the reclaimed portal area. There
was no sign of erosion.
Records were checked in the Garfield County Courthouse. The detail sheet
is available with this report.
