•
Jv11ta'E5D # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1979-192
INSPECTION DATE: 4/20(00 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: AIW
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operational inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Victor Land and Joe Gagliano of
Trans Colorado Concrete. The site is undergoing a conversion from a 110 construction materials operation into a 112
construction materials operation. The pit is located approximately 4 miles west of Penrose ,Colorado and just south of
Fremont County Road 122. The pit actually borders Road 122 on the north and Eightmile Creek on the west.
The pit is split into two distinct areas, the lower alluvial terrace closer to the creek with a cool season grass dominated
community containing the occasional cottonwood stand, and an older upland terrace approximately 30 feet higher in
elevation with a blue grams warm season grass community. Separating these two areas is another distinct zone where the
upper terrace drops rather abruptly into the lower terrace and the outslope is comprised of rather coarse gravelly soils
dominated by a Pinon/Juniper/Shrub vegetative community with interspersed grasses. No noxious weeds were observed on
the site during this inspection.
The eastern and southern boundaries are delineated by the presence of stock fences. There is also a small power line running
from north to south near the edge of the upper terrace. In addition, there is an old building near the north end of the permit
area that will be used as an onsite office. No other structures were observed on the site.
There will be a 150 foot buffer on the west side of the permit area where it borders Eightmile Creek. In addition, there will be
a 200 foot buffer where the permit borders County Road 122. The creekside buffer, in addition to the proposed sediment
control plans, should provide adequate protection for Eightmile Creek during mining reclamation activities. No problems
were observed during this inspection which would preclude mining and reclamation activities in the proposed expansion area.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Victor E.
