No individuals were contacted during the inspection. Evidence of recent reclamation
activity was observed at the rock fill area near the south highwall and north highwall area. Soil
conditions were muddy due to seasonal snowmelt.
Mine identification sign was posted at the mine entrance. Permit boundary markers were
posted. Topsoil stockpile signs were posted.
Backfill and grading of the south highwall to approximate 3H:1 V slope appeared near
completion. Topsoil, previously distributed on the rock fill area, had been salvaged to allow
additional grading to the rock fill area. The rock fill area exhibited positive drainage.
Evidence of minor erosion was observed on the access road to the north pit area.
Sediment Pond 1, located at the far south end of the permit area, was dry, no discharge noted.
The pond embankment, inslopes and bottom were well vegetated and stable. Primary and
secondary spillways appeared to be clear of sediment and debris, and capable of functioning as
designed. Roadside drainage ditches and culverts, conveying affected area drainage to Pond 1,
were well maintained.
Sediment Pond 2, located along the west side of the permit area, was dry, no discharge noted.
The pond embankment, inslopes and bottom were well vegetated and stable. Primary and
secondary spillways appeared intact and capable of functioning as designed.
