III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Hamilton Mine for the month of August, 1998.
RECORDS: Records were inspected and found to be satisfactory. See page 5 of this report for
further details.
ROADS: The roads are in satisfactory condition and do not require any maintenance.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: All ditches and culverts are clear and capable of functioning as
designed. Pond B was dry as normal, pond A was damp at this time. Some minor ditch
maintenance is required at the NW inlet to the pond.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS: The site's reclamation vegetation is doing the best since the site was
reclaimed. Numerous new growth was observed in the cultivation grooves. The new growth has
benefited from the polyacrylimide pellets which store moisture for later use by the plants. Several
patches of thistle and knapweed need to be sprayed to prevent any further spreading of these
noxious weeds.
