Iii. COMMENTS COMPLIANCE
Below are Comments nn the inSpecCfon. The ca~rents Include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcerent actions taken during
*.he inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology. This former, contour strip operation is bond revoked. Inspection
frequency is quarterly, with one complete inspection each year. Ground conditions
on this day were generally wet and muddy due to rain the previous day. The
weather was cool and mild.
Mvdrologic Balance
Recent rains have filled most ponds to the highest levels seen in years. Water
resident in the ponds was murky. Ponds 15•P11 and 15-P1Z along the county road
held water. Pond 15-P2 and 15-P20 also held significant amounts of water. All
ponds appeared in good condition with no evidence of seepage, piping, or damage of
any kind.
kt'4'?C~t. l 0'1
Reclaimed ponds 15-P1 and 15-P10 were traversed on foot. Crested wheatgrass was
noted in considerable numbers, as were other unidentified grasses. Scotch thistle
is again present in these reclaimed areas, as is cocklebur, which likely came in
with the equipment and mulch used on pond l5•P1. Cattle were seen in the general
area although not evidence of heavy grazing was apparent.
Overall, the areas inspected were found improved over this time last year and
qualitatively rated in good condition for the late summer season.
