Larry Chartier was present during the inspection. weather
conditions on site were cool and clear. Ground conditions were dry.
The mine site is located roughly 2 miles north of Brush in Morgan County. The permit area
allows for 9 acres of disturbance. The mining and reclamation permit was issued to Larry
Chartier on March 22, 1984. The site was last inspected by the Division on June 24, 1993. The
bond currently in place is in the amount of $1,639.00.
The operator stated that most of the mining in the pit was conducted by Morgan County. The
pit is roughly 5.5 acres in size to a depth of 15-22 feet. A small island is located in the
middle of the pond. Mining is only taking place on the northeast side of the pit. The pond
is recharged by groundwater. The remainder of the pit has been reclaimed to a 3h:ly slope
and reseeded. The Colorado Division of Wildlife has an easement on the property, which
allows the public to fish from the pond. The operator stated that the pond was stocked with
bass, cropy, perch, blue-yield and carp.
A mine identification sign was posted at the entrance to the site and permit boundary markers
were identified. The bond in the amount of $1,639.00 is sufficient for the remaining
reclamation necessary on site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
Larry Chartier
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
21305 County Road 28.5
Brush, Colorado 80723
cc: Carl Mount, DMG
^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
