• (Page 21 •
MINE ID !J OR PROSPECTING ID ry M-1979-002
INSPECTION DATE 11-28-2000 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a partial inspection conducted as part of the Division of Minerals and Geology monitoring f~rogram for permitted
mines in Colorado.
The site has apparently not been mined since the last inspection, but material has been removed from on-site stockpiles.
The asphalt paving equipment noted in the last inspection report has been removed from site, and the area cleaned up.
M. A. Concrete out of Mesa County was performing some pipe installation work on the county road leading to the pit. They
were importing material and dumping it in piles on the processing area of this pit. Judging by the placement of this
material, it is assumed that this is a temporary storage and that this material will not be used for permanent fill at this pit.
If this assumption is incorrect and the material is to be used as permanent backfill for the mining operation then a notice
of import of backfill material must be submitted per the requirements of Rule 3.1.5(91.
The severe Russian knapweed problem has been addressed with good results. However, knapweed still infests the site,
requiring continued annual or bi-annual herbicide applications. Failure to continue the weed control treatments will allow
the knapweed to maintain it's foothold on the site. Since this was a previously cited problem, it is no listed as a problem
in this report.
The mine identification sign and boundary markers are in compliance
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division's Durango Field Office.
