t~ III. COMMENTS-COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology. No one else was present. The ground was dry.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
Sedimentation Pond
The pond was dry. Its embankment and inslopes appear stable and are not Bullied.
The orange-colored sludge substance reported in last month's inspection remains in the side channel
of Trout Creek below the outslope of the pond's embankment. The orange color of the sludge
appears darker than last month. Its distribution appears the same in the side channel of Trout Creek
although the sludge appears to have been washed away from the area where the side channel
merges with the main channel of the creek. Stream flow appears to have increased since last month's
inspection.
SLIDES AND DAMAGE
Office SAE
Water from snowmelt was flowing in the channel at an estimated 75 gpm. The flow appeared to pipe
beneath the gabion baskets in the upper half of the channel and resurfaced to the top of the basketsin
the lower 20 feet of the channel.
The approximate 2 cubic yards of rock and dirt that were left at the toe of the channel should be
removed unless there is a use for the material.
Portal bench
No changes were noted in the small sediment debris flow reported in the last two months. This debris
flow covers less than 100 square feet and appears to gradually be working its way down from the road
above to the portal bench area. No additional movement appears to have occurred since last month.
The flow should be watched although it does not appear to present any problems and may help to
lower the steepness of the slope above the bench.
Page 3
