- (Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M- 1978-162
INSPECTION DATE 09/16/03 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRS
This was an inspection of the Harvey Green Pit conducted by Gregg Squire of the Division of
Minerals and Geology. The operator was represented by Dan Royal, the Morgan County Road
Supervisor. Weather conditions on site were clear and warm. A permit sign is posted at the
entrance to the pit, but the lettering is badly faded and should be repainted or replaced.
This is a large pit, but the boundaries can be located by fences on the east and north sides,
overburden piles on the north boundary and the county road to the south.
The 112c Mining and Reclamation Permit was issued to mine approximately 150 acres. The
operator was recently mining in this pit and will be back this fall. The entire east high
wall cut has been regraded to a four or five horizontal to one vertical grade and
revegetated. Grass species observed included smooth brome, crested and other wheatgrasses
and sand dropseed. Although the vegetative cover was a little sparse, some of the plants
were producing seed and should fill in with another year or two of good growing conditions.
Approximately 150 yards of the cut on the north side of the pit has also been regraded to an
acceptable reclaimed slope. It was noted that the vegetation on this slope was in very good
condition with an excellent cover.
No problems were identified during the inspection, overall this appears to be a well run
operation with a good amount of reclamation taking place as the mining proceeds.
Z & 8 Contact Address
NAME Dan Royal-Road Supervisor
OPERATOR Morgan County
STREET 17303 County Road S
CITY/STATE/ZIP Fort Morgan, CO. 80701
r CE
r BL
r FS
r HW
r HMWMD r SE (CH)
r WQCD (CH)
Cc: Carl Mount; DMG Via a-mail
