MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-19 -159
INSPECTION DATE 10/18/Ol
(Page 2)
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This pre-operational inspection was part of Farmer Construction's request for a conversion of the 110c permit into a 112 c.
The Gleason Pit is located south of 13edvale, Colorado along the north rim of Naturita Canyon. The inspector was
accompanied by Farmers Representative, Steve Hendrickson.
All signs and boundary markers were noted. Grade stakes with survey tape were observed marking the current permitted area
and the affected area of the purposed expansion.
No structures other than those already noted on the conversion maps were observed. The power company has indicated that
it will be moving the line that transects the new portion of the permit out to the fence line that is over 200' from the permit
boundary.
Discussions as to the viability of daylighting the west end of the pit were had by the inspector and Partners Representative.
It was agreed that if Farmers committed to using an excavator and pulling pit edge material into the pit that this Office would
approve. Also, the grade of the pit floor has to be maintained in such a manner as to retain storm water within the pit.
Along the west area of the new mining area, numerous junk vehicles, equipment and empty barrels were noted. No oil stains
or other soil contamination was observed. This equipment, etc. is owned by Partners Construction, who is also the land owner.
This observation was made to document that future reclamation cost reviews may include more high cost estimates for the
removal of contaminated materials. It would be in the operator's /owners best interest to remove this debris as soon as
possible to reduce their liability.
The phased mining of this site will keep the reclamation bond at its current level, so Tong as Partner's Construction agrees to
keep total disturbance of land to its prosent ten acre or less. This commitment must be made in writing and placed in the
Mining Plan. Further it is to be understood that the reclamation of the south east comer of the pit must be in progress in order
to start any new disturbances,
The inspection ended with a discussion of new maps for exhibits and the desire to get the conversion completed as quickly
as possible.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
18 E Contact Address
NAME Steve Hendrickson
OPERATOR Farmer's Contruction.
