[II. Comments -Compliance
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
ooservations rnade during the inspection. Comments also descriue any
enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
On June 8, 1993 a complete inspection was conducted at the Canadian Strip Mine.
At the time of the inspection the weather was threatening rain. The grass was
greening up and the flax were about to bloom. This spring was wet and will
contribute to a good growing season if it is not too cold this summer.
Ponds 1 and 2 were about 20% full. Mallards were in both ponds but I didn't look
to see if they were nesting. Pond embankments were stable and un-eroded.
No additional gullies were noted during this Inspection; the reclamation appeared
stable. The gate on the south side of the pit area was closed but one set of cattle
tracks were noted crossing the pit reclamation. The cattle was not seen during this
inspection. No breaks in the fence were noted in the areas Inspected.
Records were checked at the County Courthouse and all were found to be in order.
Canadian Strip Mine (C-81-026) 1
June 8, 1993
