Sorenson <br />Reclamation Specialist <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, Co. 80203 <br />Re: Hydrologic Evalustioa ~t+.lldog Mine <br />Dear Mr Sorenson, <br />• III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII <br />~-r~= ^r, <br />~~~~ <br />~E3 ~ ,cyc <br />C'r '- <br />This responds to your letter of January 5, 1994 in regard to <br />the SCS curve Number used for hydrologic analysis at Bulldog. <br />Based on information available to Homestake (see attached <br />letter from Scott Benowitz, dated January 22, 1994) the hydrologic <br />soil group in the general area of the Bulldog Mine is a type "B". <br />The SCS Engineering Manual, Section 2, Table 2-3c (copy attached), <br />suggests that the Curve Number for the Pinyon-juniper and grass <br />understory cover type, with a good hydrologic condition (greater <br />than 70 percent ground cover) , would be 41. Allowing for small <br />areas of fair and poor hydrologic conditions soils and a factor of <br />conservatism, a curve number of 55 was utilized.
