A site inspection was made of the Pikeview Quarry to review the status and condition of
stormwater manangement structures following the spring runoff season.
2. The stormwater mananagement controls at the quarry are funtioning properly and have
adequately handled the high volume of runoff during the past two months, even though there
still remain several controls to be constructed.
3. The operator has done an exemplary job of constructing a sediment pond with riprapped
inlet at the bottom of the drainage basin and east end of the permit area. There is also a
settling basin and a number of culverts placed in the upper portions of the disturbed area
to effectively manage runoff. During the 1997 and 1998 field seasons the operator will
continue with construction of stormwater controls in the channel that flows into the sediment
pond. The stormwater management plan approved for the site specifies that the channel
flowing into the pond will have 3 riprapped drop structures and side slopes that are graded
to a stable configuration and revegetated.
4. The stormwater controls constructed thus far are intended to be permanent structures.
The operator has taken considerable care to maintain them and to ensure that the quality of
construction is high.
I & E Contact Address cc: Jim Stevens, DMG
^ CE
NAME Rick Paradav ^ BL
OPERATOR Castle Concrete Comoanv ^ FS
STREET 3820 N. 30th Street ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Colorado Springs, CO 80901 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
