A site inspection was made of the Koenig Pit to familiarize this inspector with the pit and current slurry wall construction. The operator has recently filed an application for a permit amendment to change the post-mining land use from wildlife habitat to developed water resource (water storage facility). Present during the inspection was Mr. Don Carrol of Weld County. 2. A slurry wall has recently been constructed (by Hall Irwin) around both the east & west cells within the permit area. Mr. Carrol indicated that "as-built" desings will be submitted to the Division shortly. Mining has been completed in the W1/2 of the permit area and this cell is filled with water. Mining has not yet been completed in the E1/2 of the permit area this cell is now dry. The east cell is partially excavated to a depth of approximately 6'. The total depth of excavation specified in the mine plan is 25 feet. 3. Pit slopes in the west cell were approximately 0.5/1 at the water's edge and will need to be regraded to 3:1 to achieve the required reclamation slopes. Construction materials from the slurry wall construction have been regraded to a flat slope but have not yet settled or firmed up. This area may require minor regrading and will then need to be revegetated. 4. There a number of permanent man-made structures that are within 200 feet of the east and west cell disturbances. These include the following: Weld County Road 20 to the north (100'); owned by the applicant/operator Weld County Road 25 to the east (120'); owned by the applicant/operator Telephone/Power Line to the north (191'); owned by ??? (within WCR 20 ROW) Telephone/Power Line to the east (120'); owned by ??? (within WCR 25 ROW) Fence to the south (120'); owned by ??? Irrigation canal to the East (100'); owned by ??? (within WCR 25 ROW) Irrigation canal to the south (120'); owned by Lupton Meadows Ditch Company Irrigation canal to the west (120'); owned by Lupton Meadows Ditch Company High Pressure Gas Storage Tank to the west (132'); owned by HR Resources, Inc. High Pressure Gas Processor to the west (249'); owned by HR Resources, Inc. High Pressure Gas Well to the west (171'); owned by HR Resources, Inc. The pending 112 amendment application will be evaluated for compliance with Rule 6.4.19 of the Construction Materials Rules & Regulations for the structures listed above.
