III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of CDMG. The Hawk's Nest Mine is a
revoked forfeited mine permit that was reclaimed in 1995, with additional reclamation work since that
time. The site has a reduced inspection frequency of one complete and three partial inspections each
year.
No one else was present during the inspection. The ground was covered in places with snow. The
travel trailer that was parked in the East Mine area, next to the county road (former State Highway 133)
during the summer of 2006 was not onsite.
Signs and Markers
This revoked permit site has no signs or markers.
Roads
No roads exist on the site that are associated with the mine.
HydroloEic Balance
The sediment control pond (in the West mine area) was dry.
General Mine Plan Comaliance
No problems were found in either the East or the West Mine areas.
Slides and Dama¢e
A mudslide on the road embankment on the north side of the paved road (old Highway 133) appears
ready to slide onto the road where it has slid onto the road in past years in the East mine area. The
State maintains this road.
