(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-95-060
INSPECTION DATfi'10-23-97
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
This was a routine monitoring inspection of the Butcher Pit. The site has been mined in the
past year. Approximately three acres have been excavated from the southeast corner o£ the
site. This is a slight deviation from the approved mining plan which indicated mining would
proceed south from the pre-existing pit. This should not pose a problem, and may actually
help prevent dust control problems. The current financial warranty is adequate to cover
reclamation in either case.
The mine identification sign was in place and in compliance. However the permit boundary is
not well marked and additional markers need to be installed. Only markers at the corners of
the 40 acre parcel were found. The boundary needs to be marked adequately so any equipment
operator that works at this site, or any other permitted site, can easily identify the
boundary so they don't disturb off-site areas.
Trash remains everywhere on site but most appears to be pre- mine dumped material. Southway
has committed to removing the dumped material and properly disposing of it prior to
excavation o£ material. The entire site must be free of trash before permit release (when
mining is complete in the future) will be approved.
The small pond in the northeast corner of the permit area, identified in the pre-operational
inspection was apparently the pre-existing excavation area. This area was dry during this
inspection except for a small sump excavated in the middle of this pre-existing pit. The
sump is approximately 12 ft. X 12ft. and of unknown depth. The sump was full of water and
should be fenced off for safety reasons.
T & E Contact Address
NAME Tzora Southway
OPERATOR Southway Const. Co..
