Page 2/2 Deserado C-81-018 <br />6 May 2004 <br />Hydrologic Balance (cont.): -Pond DP-1 contained water at a level just below the <br />discharge pipe. The pond was discharging from the small weep-hole in the primary <br />discharge pipe. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be <br />stable. There were no erosional problems on the pond embankment. The <br />emergency spillway was well maintained and stable. <br />-The roadside ditches along the mine access road and the haul road to the refuse <br />pile appeared to be stable and well maintained. <br />-The northern ditch from the prep plant bench to pond DP-1 has some minor rilling <br />beginning to appear. It is not a problem at this time but it will be watched. The south <br />ditch remains stable. <br />-The fresh-water lagoon was observed from CR-64. The pond was well maintained <br />and stable at the time of the inspection. <br />Processing Waste: -Refuse Pile RP-2/3/4 was being compacted at the time of the <br />inspection. There was no water pooling on the surface of the pile and it appeared to <br />be stable at the time of the inspection.. <br />- Stockpiling refuse on pile RP-5a has stopped. The operator has not yet started to <br />spread the stockpiled refuse. The stockpile is in the same place it was last year, on <br />the southeast portion of the pile. Scott indicated that the task of spreading the refuse <br />has gone ovt to bid. <br />Refuse Pile RP-1 was well vegetated and stable at the time of the inspection. <br />Support Facilities: -The pad and area around return shaft RS-3 was stable and <br />showed no signs of erosional problems at the time of the inspection. <br />-The regraded pad area of return shaft RS-1 also appeared to be stable at the time <br />of the inspection. <br />-The pad area for return shaft RS-2 was stable at the time of the inspection <br />- The B-Vent shaft area was stable and in good condition at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />Revegetation/Reclamation Success: -Vegetation at the regraded RS-1 pad is <br />beginning to germinate. <br />- The reclaimed B-seam portal area was observed from CR-64. The area appeared <br />to be stable and the vegetation was beginning to germinate. <br />
