A site inspection was made of the Chaparral Meadows Pit, located 5.3 miles east of Hartsel, Colorado along County Road 59. Mr. Downare was notified of the ending inspection but was not present. Review of the permit file indicates that this ate has not been inspected by the Division since it was permitted in 1984. 2. The Chaparral Meadows Pit is permitted for 9.7 acres of disturban e. The financial warranty is a $5,000 Cerfificate of Deposit. The post-mining land use is agriculture. The land surrounding the pit is currently used for grazing buffalo and/or li estock. 3. There was no entrance sign or permit boundary markers as required by Rule 3.1.12, copy attached. This is a problem that will require corrective actions by the operator. Please see page 3 for details. 4. A comparison of the 9.7 acre permit boundary as defined in the permit placation va. the current disturbance reveals that there may be mining disturbance outside t e permit boundary, the extent of which is unknown. This is particularly true since the per it boundary is an irregular shape. The matter of compliance with the mine plan will a confirmed upon identification of the permit boundary by the operator. Therefore, this c ncern will not be listed as a problem at this time. S. It also appears that the financial warranty may be inadeq disturbance.
