(Page 21

MINE ID A OR PROSPECTING ID A M-78304
INSPECTION DATE 6-16-97 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine inspection of the Black Cat Pit located approximately 4 miles west of Delta. The permit allows for disturbance
of 9.9 acres for the County's dry extraction of sand and gravel.
the county has stripped and stockpiled topsoil and overburden for most of the stage I mining area and part of stage II. Stage I is
nearly mined out and the pit floor of stage I is used for stockpiling rock and old asphalt for recycling into new pavement.
A drainage ditch has been cut through the Stage I area to help drain the pit when irrigation water from upland fields seep in through
the gravel bed. The ditch holds a lot of dead brush that acts as a sediment filter for the site before the water discharges to Seep
Ditch on the northern pit boundary.
The 25 foot buffer zone for Seep Ditch is being complied with.
The site does need additional permit boundary markers installed so the boundary is readily identifiable.
The county will need to ensure that all topsoil to be stockpiled for over one season will be in piles with 3:1 or less slopes and that
the piles are seeded to protect against erosion and weed infestation.
I & E Contact Address
NAME John Timbreza
OPERATOR Delta Countv
STREET 501 Palmer St., Suite 277
CITY/STATE/ZIP Delta, Colorado 81416
cc: Tom Gillis, DMG
~ CE
~ BL
~ FS
~ HW
~ HMWMD ICH)
~ SE
~ WOCD (CH)
~ OTHER
