(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1978-146
INSPECTION DATE 3-03-2005
OBSBRVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRS
This was a general monitoring inspection of the Stephens Pit conducted by
Gregg Squire of the Division of Minerals and Geology. The Logan County
Planning Department was notified but was not present during the inspection.
A permit sign was posted at the pit entrance which is located 1/4 mile west
off of County Road 93. This entrance road is about 300 yards north of a
ranch complex which is on the west side of County Road 93. The permit
boundaries could be located either by markers, fence lines, roads or other
landmarks. Mining at the site is continuing, although there was no
equipment at the site at the time of the inspection. This permit was
originally a 110 permit which was converted to a 112c. The oldest portion
of the pit, south and east of the entrance, is well vegetated but does not
meet the current sloping and grading requirements. Current mining activity
is to the southwest of the gate and is advancing to the west. It appears
that the operation is within the permit boundaries.
No problems were noted during the inspection.
I & 8 Contact Address
j' CE
NAME Mr. Byron Hickox- County Planner [' BL
OPERATOR Logan County Planning and Zoning
STREET 315 Main St. Suite 2 j' HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Sterling, CO 80751
r' FS
1' HMWMD (CH)
1' SE
j' WQCD (CH)
