III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br />inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br />evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was an aerial inspection of the Seneca II Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the DMG. <br />Aerial photographs were taken on Apri127, 2003. Mike Boulay of the DMG reviewed the aerial <br />photos. Weather conditions were cloudy and windy at the time of the flight. The majority of the <br />mine site was free of snow cover. Some azeas of the mine site appeazed to be saturated from <br />recent snowmelt and runoff. Vegetation is becoming fairly well established throughout most of <br />the site. <br />Roads <br />Access roads at the site appeazed to be wet and muddy in some locations. From the photos, <br />roads appear to be generally accessible throughout the mine site. There was no activity noted at <br />the time of the flight. <br />Hvdrologic Balance <br />Stock Ponds throughout the mine site were nearly full, but none appeared to be dischazging. Site <br />Sedimentation Ponds 002, 003, 004, 008, and the Truck Wash Holding Pond were visible in the <br />photographs. All of these ponds were holding water at full capacity. Many of the Post Mine <br />Channels that have been completed to date were conveying dischazge and appeazed to be stable. <br />Sunnort Facilities <br />The shop/wazehouse and boneyazd azeas were viewed. From the photos, these facilities and <br />perimeter areas appeazed to be well maintained and no problems were identified. <br />
