On May 15, 1997, William J. Carter, and Joe Dudash from the Division of Minerals and <br />Geology, accompanied by Basil Beaz, performed a partial inspection at the Bowie #1 Mine. <br />Roads: <br />The roads appeazed in good, and stable condition. <br />Hydroloaic Balance: <br />• Some of the ditches in [he main mine area need to be pulled again [o clean them of rocks, <br />and other slide debris. <br />• The Sedimentation trap just west of the shop area needs to be cleaned and repaired. <br />• Culvert west of the crusher area needs to be cleaned. <br />• The silt trap in the crusher area needs a new cover. It is expected to be present during the <br />next inspection. <br />• The culvert just below the gob pile need cleaning on the upper end, although it is <br />functional at this time. <br />• The gob pile pond contains water about two feet below the primary drain. <br />• The primary drains from [he gob pile pond needs to be cleaned. <br />• Pond # one does not contain water at this time. This pond needs [o have the sediment <br />removed this summer. <br />• Pond # two contains water about six inches below the primary drain. This pond is <br />scheduled to have sediment removed this summer. <br />• West mine pond contains water about one and a half foot below the primary drain. <br />• Please check all culverts for damage caused from cleaning and repair as required. <br />• The loadout yard sedimentation pond is dry at this time. <br />Explosives• <br />Explosives are being stored at this location for use a[ Bowie # two. <br />Processin¢ Waste: <br />• The gob pole appears to be stable, and in good condition. <br />• Photographs of the addition [o the gob pile were requested and Basil stated that he would <br />need [o get them from the engineer. These photographs of the underdraln are required in <br />section 4.09.1(11)(c). <br />Suaaort Facilities: <br />Bowie still needs to remove the concrete slab from the hillside above the railroad, at the loadout <br />yard facility. <br />
