Staff for the Division of Minerals and Geology met the permitee's representative,John Martin of
Roaring Fork Resources at the site. The Eagle Pit is located between the towns of Eagle and Gypsum, north of
Highway 6.
The total permitted acreage for this site is 28.8 acres. As noted on the previous inspection conducted on 9/24/02,all
sloping and grading met the approved plans for reclamation. Vegetation at that time was well on its way with some
noted bare spots and an intrusion of barely in the pit floor.
During this inspection, vegetative cover is estimated to be 85%. Wheatgrasses, ricegrass, brome, rabbit brush and
sage were all observed. The barely noted in the previous inspection was not observed. Four or five thistles were
noted throughout the area, this is well below the established populations along Highway 6 and adjacent lands. The
operator has noxious weeds in check and followed his weed control plan very well.
A small scale and scale house still remain on site. The structures are being left per the landowner's request. The
only other area not reclaimed is the access road, which also is to remain.
Overall, the site has been reclaimed per the approved plans. There are a few areas that are sparse on vegetation, but
they constitute a small portion of the overall acreage. All plant species are well established and diverse. Evidence
suggests that the thin areas will fill-in during the next growing season with normal precipitation. Based on field
observations and a review of the approved reclamation plan, staff feels the site has been fully reclaimed and is ready
for release.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology,Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3`"Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
1 &E Contact Address cc:
❑ CE
NAME: John Martin ❑ BL
OPERATOR: Roaring Forks Resources ❑ FS
STREET: P.O.
