III. Comments/Compliance
This was a complete inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the morning of
Thursday, September 11, 2003. This site was quiet and deserted. The weather was partly
cloudy, having rained the previous 36 hours.
At the East Mine, in the area below the road that was amended last year showed the
vegetation was brown and dry. There was no evidence of erosion at the bottom of the slope
There was no evidence of offsite impact along the river despite the heavy rains of the last 2
days.
The road ditches contained some water. The road itself was in good repair. The area
above the road showed no evidence of instability or erosion. There were areas of good
revegetation and areas not as good at this season. There did not appear to have been any
recent movement on the slumps from the top down over the road and these were not
seeping.
At the Middle Mine, the grasses were brown and dry on that south-facing slope. There were
no signs of erosion or instability that haven't been there 6efo~e.
At the West Mine, the vegetation was excellent, with thick grasses and numerous shrubs,
dominated by rabbitbrush. Weeds are no problem at the West Mine. The pond contained a
small amount of standing water. Pond embankments were stable. There was no evidence
of siltation escaping from the site. The river was running muddy from the rain.
