III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection flown by Harry Ranney of the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology on February 1, 2002. Two oblique aerial photographs were reviewed by Kent
Gorham of CDMG on February S. 2002. The Rimrock Mine consists of approximately seven
acres of reclamation.
Hvdrolooic Balance
The mine site was snow covered on this day. The lone sediment pond was clearly visible
in the photo and the embankement looked intact and in good condition. The pond appeared
to have significant capacity for runoff and sediment storage. Contour furrows and
surface roughness features were easily visible given the excellent contrast due to the
snow cover. Minor rills were visible and are not significant enough to warrant repair.
A portion of one of the aerial photos is presented below.
Overall, the site appeared in good condition for the winter season.
3
