Long <br />Division Direcor <br />RE: Hawkeye Mine, File No. M-78-311, 7/17/97 Inspection Report;~Problem Abatement Status <br />Dear Ms. Carter: <br />This letter is in response to your correspondence received by the Durango Field Office on September <br />24, 1997 regarding the resolution of problems identified in the Division's July i 7, 1997 inspection of <br />the site. The following information describes the current status of resolution of the 2 problems <br />identified in the report: <br />1 . No mine identification sign or permit area perimeter markers are in place where required. <br />The Division hereby grants one (1) 30 day extension to October 25, 1997 for <br />completing the sign & marker installation work. Please send print photos of the <br />completed installation so that the Division can acknowledge resolution of this problem. <br />2. Valid Right to Enter the DMG permitted site to conduct mining operations is not clear. <br />This Droblem has been adeouately resolved. The Division received written information <br />and a lease area boundary map from Mr. Dan Burns of the D.O.E. demonstrating that <br />the entire 9.7 acre State Reclamation Permit area is covered by a valid D.O,E. lease. <br />Also, please be aware that the Succession of Operator from Ryan Ltd. to Telluride Mining Co. has not <br />been finalized because Telluride Mining Company has not yet provided to the Division an acceptable <br />$5,000.00 financial warranty to replace the financial warranty currently being held by the Division <br />from Ryan Ltd. An acceptable 55,000.00 Financial Warranty from Telluride Mining Co., Inc. must be <br />provided to the Division no later than November 25, 1997 or the Succession of Operator and Transfer <br />of Permit to Telluride Mining Co., Inc. will be rescinded. <br />
