(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1984-014
INSPECTION DATE: 3/24/05
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was conducted as part ofthe monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology for active uranium mine projects. Currently, due to the rapid nature of development at these sites, the
DMG is doing monthly monitoring inspections.
Development at the JD-8 continues to build a work pad and other dumping azeas on the surface. Topsoil was
observed being salvages as much as possible. Large boulders intermixed with the soil /overburden makes total
recovery difficult. Efforts by the operator seem to be more than reasonable under the conditions. Topsoil is being
hauled over to the northwest of the permit boundaries and stockpiled. TheYOad being used winds in and out of the
permit boundary area but ispre-existing and not a problem. No mixing of topsoil and waste rock is noted at this
time. Erosion control measures aze being implemented as the topsoil stockpile is being constructed and along the
toe of proposed waste rock piles. (Photos 1,3, and 4)
Stormwater and sedimentation controls were noted for the small ore stockpile azea. The grade drops slightly
towazds constructed berms that prevent any runoff from occurring. (Photo 2)
The onsite fuel tanks are in secondary containment constructed of earth berms and thick plastic. A seam that was
not sealed during the last inspection has been repaired. A lazge oil /fuel stain close to the compressor house has also
bee cleaned up. No drums or containers outside proper containment were noted. Photos S, 6)
Issues noted during the previous inspection have been corrected and noted. Division files note that most of the
uranium mines have older maps associated with them. The Division is requesting that all operators please send the
most current map that clearly depicts current mine permit boundaries and mining features.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rtl Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address cc:
NAME: Glen Williams
OPERATOR: Cotter Corporation
STREET: P.O.
