(Page 2) • •
MTNE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-81-108
INSPECTION DATE 04/17/01 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
OBSHRVATIONS
This was an inspection of the Beech Hill Quarries conducted by Erica Crosby of the Division
of Minerals and Geology as a result of a citizen complaint. Raul Vasquez of Blue Mountain
Stone was present during the inspection.
The Division received an anonymous citizen complaint on May 15, 2001 stating that the quarry
is mining outside the permit boundary. The letter also included a number of other quarries
that were mining outside the permit boundaries, specifically; M-1999-062, M-1999-063, M-1999-
064, M-1986-115, M-1987-141, M-1992-111. The letter did not state the precise location where
mining outside the permit area is taking place.
The Division reviewed the mine plan maps, aerial photographs and inspected the permit
boundary perimeters. The site is immediately adjacent to a number of quarries; M-1999-064
(to the west), M-86-115 (to the north and east) and M-87-141 (to the north). Blue Mountain
Stone currently has a conversion application on file to combine three 110 permits into one
112 permit. Specifically, permits M-Bs-115 and M-87-141 will be incorporated into M-81-108.
The conversion application is currently in the review process, and has not been approved to
date. The existing M-81-108 (not including the conversion application) site is permitted for
9.88 acres of disturbance, and mining was within the permit boundary. Where one permit stops
another permit area begins, making permit delineation very confusing (hence, reason for the
conversion application). No evidence of mining outside the permit boundary could be detected
during this inspection.
I & H Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Abe Vasouez ^ BL
OPERATOR Blue Mountain Stone ^ FS
STREET 4168 Ute Hwv ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Long mont, Colorado 80503 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
