Wells in the area that
are developed in the flood piain or terrace deposits are
presently yielding water. Both of the slieLlow KeCler wells
are yi.el.ding water. Arllling a new well into the alluvium
might be a solution to Mr. Ketler's problem. However, a more
detailed study of the local hydrogeologic system would be
necessary to make that determination.
The Flatiron pit ~.s located in Section 36 to the northwest of
the KeCler and Rody wells. Ground water Flows from southwest
to northeast in the area, ae indicated on Figure 1. Rased on
the information prasented above, it seems unlikely that
dewaCering at the Flatiron pit could affect the Ketler well.
Calculations indicate that the radius of Che none of
influence created by dewatering the pit is about 1,650 feet.
This is based on s drawdown ~ 10 feet and a hydraull.c
conductivity value of 250 gpd/ft The KeCler well is about
3,600 feet to the southeast of the pit. This is well beyond
Che radius of influence of the pit.
Rased on the above information, it is our professional
opinion that the Ketler and R dy wells dried up because the
recharge area for the Leremie Formation to the southwest was
eliminated. This occurred because the land was taken nut of
irrigation and commercially and residentially developed. The
activities at the Flatiron pit had no effect on the Ketler or
the R"ddy well.
If you have any questions or if we can be of Furt}ier service,
feel free to call.
Very truly yours,
[LErO,NARD RICE CONSULTING WATER ENGINEERS, INC.
Mic ae~ma
Ground Water Geologist
Reviewed by:"
La~l7//~//.d~
le E.
