III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />Reve4etation <br />There has been some germination of seeded species along the repaired section of the diversion ditch south of <br />the topsoil/subsoil stockpile area. There was some rill erosion in the ditch channel from runoff last fall. If there <br />is further erosion of the channel this year, and vegetation does not become established well enough to provide <br />adequate stabilization, regrading and seeding, possibly in combination with installation of erosion control blanket <br />or geotextile liner may be warranted. <br />The noxious weed whitetop is present in various locations along the lower haul road and in the soil stockpiles <br />vicinity. Whitetop patches need to be sprayed within the next week. <br />Also, the operator has indicated that the cheatgrass infestation on the topsoil stockpile would be sprayed this <br />spring with Roundup herbicide, with afollow-up treatment next spring, followed by stabilization seeding in the fall <br />of 2007. cheatgrass seeding should be completed within the next week. <br />4 <br />
