Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
It has come to the attention of the Division of Minerals and Geology that the parameters of Technical
Revision TR-001 for the Greeley Pit have not yet been fulfilled. The Revision included a plan to dig test
holes and to use a detection device to identify the presence of hydrocarbons in the soil and/or
groundwater in the vicinity of the past fuel spill at the site. Additionally, a representative from thef Division
was to be present during the sampling.
To avoid potential future enforcement actions for non-compliance with State Statutes, Rules and
Regulations, and/or conditions specified in your permit for this site, arrangements must be made to
schedule this sampling event with the Division by January 16, 2003.
If you need additional information, please contact me at (303)866-4935.
Sincerely,
Kate Pickford
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Carl Mount; DMG
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
