III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during the <br />inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or <br />evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of CDMG. Rick Mills represented the operator. <br />Most of the site was covered with about a foot of snow. The snow cover limited inspection. <br />RECORDS AVAILABILITY: The records checklist is attached. All required records were available. <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS: The following signs and markers were properly displayed: mine i.d. signs, <br />disturbance area boundary markers, stream buffer signs, and topsoil markers. <br />ROADS: In excellent shape. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: The #5 mine dewatering well (7 Angle N) was not discharging. Its last reported <br />discharge was 11/ 7/00. Water was last pumped from the 6 Mine workings to the 5 Mine workings on 1/3/01. <br />Pumping between the two mines is done underground via the 5 and 6 Mines well (referred to as the 5 Mine S <br />well in the DMG records inspection checklist). <br />Ponds -Although several ponds appeared to not contain water, snow cover prevented inspection. <br />Culverts - No problems were found, although snow cover limited inspection. <br />PROCESSING WASTE: No activity, no change. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES: No problems were found in any of the facilities areas. <br />EXCESS SPOIL AND DEVELOPMENT WASTE: No new addition. <br />Page 3 of 8 <br />
