111. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Beiow are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Joe Dudash of the Colorado DMG. Bill Beaz <br />represented the operator. <br />Roads <br />The paved main haul road was in very good condition. Guazd rail was up. The access <br />road to the water tank bench was in good condition as well. The outside berm of the <br />access road was functional. <br />Hvdroloev <br />The sediment control at the entrance to the mine site off of Old Highway 133 was <br />functional. Ditches and culverts had capacity and straw bales were in place, The seep just <br />to the west of the water tank bench was wet but not flowing. <br />Topsoil Stockpile <br />The main topsoil stockpile was well vegetated. The collection and diversion <br />ditches/berms were functional. The straw bales were in place in the notch in the berm. <br />There were no weeds visible on the topsoil stockpile. The weeds had been sprayed a few <br />weeks before. <br />Facilities <br />There were no problems observed with the facilities on the portal bench, water tank <br />bench and the material storage area adjacent to the main topsoil stockpile. Coal stockpiles <br />on the portal bench and the main stockpile bench next to the highway were of moderate <br />size. There were no problems with fugitive dust. <br />Slone Stability <br />There were no problems with geotechnical slope stability at any of the cut and fill slopes. <br />c: /word/bowie2/insp0603 <br />
