Intermediate wheatgrass (Agropyron intermedium) comprises 30.2% relative cover
while Western Wheatgras5 (Agropyron smithii) and Orchard grass (Dactylic
glomerate) ccmprise 6.3% and 7.9% respectively. One forb, Glaucous aster
(,45ter glaucodes>, is dominant and compromises 20.6% relative cover. The
combined relative cover of these key species does not exceed the 80% maximum
relative cover, therefore no species alone exceeds this standard.
- Species noted but not intercepted by the transects include: Elymus
cinereus, Phleum pratense, Asclepias speciosa, cirsium arvense, Grindelia
squarrosa, Lactuca canadensis and Verbascum thapsus.
Conclusions
Based on the data collected it is apparent that the cover data in the sampling
report submitted May 4, 1992 by Bear Coal Company is accurate. Data indicates
that Bear Mine No. 1 and Bear Mine No. 2 currently meet Success Standards for
vegetative cover and species diversity.
4328E/smr
