III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
As noted during the last complete inspection (May 2005), significant erosion was occurring
below the Stock Pond T33 outlet. The erosion below the T33 outfall has been successfully
repaired by regrading and stabilizing the channel, and by armoring the channel with additional
riprap from the T33 spillway down to the brush line below the spillway.
Post Mine Channel PM-1 has been finalized, erosion was repaired and additional riprap was
added in locations above Sedimentation Pond 002. SCC is in the process of preparing an As-
Built Certification for this channel.
Reve etg ation
The top of the Wolf Creek Pit and the Wadge East Pit azea appeared very dry prior to the brief
rainstorm and vegetation is beginning to turn brown. Troublesome weeds are becoming evident
at many locations at the mine site and should be controlled by spraying. Canada Thistle was
most notable and prevalent in many locations including: Pond 004 embankment, along remaining
permanent roads, Wolf Creek Pit azea, Wadge Pit azea, all pond embankments and along the
access road between Ponds 004 and 008. Please continue to control the growth of troublesome
and noxious weeds throughout the Seneca II Mine site.
