Before addressing the water problem you noted, for the record, l would like to
cored two of your observations.
First off, the products we process through our washplant are sand and rock, not crushed asphalt waste. Secondly,
water is not pumped from Plum Creek as stated in your observations. The water from the freshwater pond that
feeds the plant is actually water from the pondjust to the southeast. The water flows from our washplant into the
first pond where particles settle. Once the particles have settled out, the overflow enters the freshwater pond
where it is pumped to the wash plant for use again. This cycle is constantly repeated.
In response to the water problem you noted, Aggregate Industries has corrected the problem. At the time of your
inspection, the water percolating out of the stockpile of washed product was escaping through the rock bern [hat
was meant to dam it. Since damming the water was not successful, Aggregate Industries has dug a trench to
direct this water back into the freshwater pond. 1 have enclosed a diagram showing the corrective actions taken
by Aggregate Industries. 1 have also enclosed a copy of your inspection report for reference. Should you need
additional information, please feel free to contact me at (303) 716-5395. A copy of this letter will also be
submitted to the DMG with the technical revision for this permit.
