III. Comments - Compliance
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any
enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
On May 23, 1991 a partial inspection was conducted at the McClave
Canyon Mine. Present at the inspection was John Walters of Salt
Creek Mining Co. and Randall Price of MLRD. The weather was clear
and warm.
Observations•
The haul road had been sprayed with Magnesium Chloride last week.
This is the first time that this mine has used a dust suppressant
on the haul road other than water. The sediment control on the
facilities pad was working properly. All of the Cottonwood trees
planted last year have died. Ditches along the haul road were in
good condition. There was some excess fill material on the coal
stockpile pad; this material will be stored in the topsoil
storage area. When this material is moved care should be taken to
assure that coal waste material is kept out of the fill and that
it is seQre~ated from the topsoil to prevent contamination.
