INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. M-74-4
DATE: June 11, 1985
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
Complete quarry and process area were inspected.
,~
2. Operator currently 400 ft. from west boundary. Future mining t:o reduce
this setback to final 100 ft. setback.
3. Operator has seeded outslopes of quarry and road on north side.
Vegetation (primarily crested wheatgrass and some invading fortis) is doing
well at holding soil medium in place, thus reducing erosion concerns.
4. Sediment pond on Southwest corner of site functioning properly.
5. Operator replaced primary crusher last year and is in the process of
installing a new secondary crusher.
6. Trees and shrubs planted along outslopes near scale house are growing
exceedingly well, and doing a good job of beautifying area.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Clean out sediment ponds of filled-in material to increase pond capacity
these ponds are along the acess road to quarry.
2. Install mulch and none-mulch test plots as specified in your leti:er of
October 17, 1983. Please inform the Division when it is planned to install
this test plot since your letter referenced a plot installation time of winter
1983-84.
3. The tree and shrubs beautification project is doing well. Keep up the
good work.
4. The Division is concerned about the disposition of the water in the
southeast settling pond. It appears the culvert installed allows
sediment-laden water to be discharged from the site. Please address this
concern.
5. Operator doing good job of mining at this site. No final reclamation has
been done since quarry operations are still on-going.
ygt
cc: Zoning Administrator City of Golden
Doc. No. 1331
