Processine waste: There aze two coal waste piles at the Eagle Mines. Both are inactive and no new
material has been placed on either pile. No problems were noted with either waste pile.
Revegetation/Reclamation Success: The Empire mine complex consists of an underground mine and
reclaimed surface mined areas. The Williams Fork Strip Pit is a reclaimed surface mine. Vegetation
throughout the Williams Fork area is in good condition. Erosional features are not evident throughout
the reclaimed site. Mule deer are plentiful in the Williams Fork reclaimed area. The reclamation
status of the Utah tract was discussed with the operator during this inspection.
Vegetation report in response to Stipulation #10 has recently been received by DMG. The Division
has not reviewed the data. Stipulation # ] 0 is still a part of the permit.
Wildlife: The inspection was conducted during large game hunting season. Mule deer and Pronghorn
were observed throughout the mine site. The operator intercepted two parties of unauthorized hunters.
General Mine Plan Compliance: Minimal activity is occurring on the mine site. The operator
discussed the potential for shutting down the mine ventilation system in the coming year. Few
maintenance items were identified and records are generally up-to-date. Please note the items
previously mentioned in this report as needing attention.
The mine site is in good condition overall.
Page 4 of_5 11/14/01
