Don Blake, County Land Use Administrator and Roger Nokes, Road Foreman, accompanied the
inspector. Mr. Nokes is a new employee, and was present for the inspection to become acquainted with
Division inspections of the County's permitted mining operations.
The mine is situated on top of and at the edge of a bluff. Most of the permitted area has been mined. The
permit area is relatively flat and runoff does not appear to be a problem. However, the County should not cut
down the south end of the pit unless some means of preventing runoff onto areas outside the permit boundary
is installed to prevent erosion and sedimentation. Very little stockpiled topsoil was observed. This is a 1978
permit and many permits from that time period in Lincoln County do not have stockpiled topsoil; however, the
County cleans topsoil from borrow ditches and hauls it to mine sites for reclamation. The south side of the pit
should be regarded prior to final reclamation.
The sign and markers are properly posted
There are no problems at this site.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Don Blake
OPERATOR: Lincoln County
STREET: P n_ Rnx 39
CITY/STATE/ZIP: HuBn rn ROR91
Cc: Harry Posey- via a-mail
