PLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br />facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a complete inspection of the Chimney Rock Mine for the month of June, 2002. <br />RECORDS: Records were inspected and due to a continually expired certificate of insurance, NOV CV- <br />2002-013 is being issued for failure to provide to the Division or maintain at the site, a certificate certifying <br />that the applicant has a public liability insurance policy in place. See page 6 of this report for further <br />details. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: All ponds have been removed and final drainages have been established. <br />The double culverts draining the East Pit area STILL need to be cleared of debris before any rain falls and <br />overtops the road Since this item was mentioned in the March 20, 2002 inspection with an attached <br />photo show~ny the condition of the culverts and subsequently no action has been taken to remedy this <br />problem, NOV CV-2002-012 is being issued for failure to maintain structures and drainage systems to <br />control r- rosu>n Since vegetation is almost non-existent, any rain would cause significant erosion, thereby <br />exacerbating the sduation <br />GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The site is mostly stable but maintenance is somewhat lacking. <br />24 June 2002 Photo <br />r'.,7 Vie...: _ _ <br />- .w::. <br />- ~ - . <br />e Y A .
