• ~ (Page 2) M
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-77-301
INSPECTION DATE 2 3 97 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS AJW
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operational inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Robert
Kisner of Colorado Lien. The inspection was required to complete the review for Amendment -
002. This amendment was submitted for construction of a haul road between the Rex and
Roberts quarries. The road is to be constructed in an area that was previously not included
on either the Rex or Roberts permit areas. Therefore, an amendment was necessary to add
additional permitted and affected area to the Rex Quarry.
The inspection consisted of traversing the area where the new haul road will be constructed.
The area is fairly flat until just before reaching the Roberts Quarry where it ties into the
existing Roberts Quarry road. The vegetation consists of mostly short-grass prairie
dominated by blue grama with an occasional ponderosa or pinon pine scattered throughout. The
soils should be fairly abundant in this area, especially when compared with the rest of the
mine site, and every precaution should be taken to salvage all available soil for use later
in reclamation. This probably includes portions of the upper B horizons which should be
suitable as a growth medium.
No problems were observed with the proposed location of the haul road and in fact,
construction of this road will clearly provide a safer route to transport limestone ore from
the Roberts Quarry to the Rex Quarry where the processing plant is located. This is because
haul trucks will no longer have to enter onto a high speed, low visibility section of U.S.
Highway 287 fora short tram south to the main entrance into the Rex Quarry, but will instead
transport the raw material away from U.S 287 and more directly to the processing plant.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Robert Kisner
OPERATOR Colorado Lien Comoanv
STREET P.O.
