III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
encouraged Mr. Bear to discuss this with the Division in more
detail once he discovered more information.
Slides and Damage
As previously mentioned the culverts which were partially blocked
by the slide, have been repaired. The material from the slide has
been removed and has been placed in the storage area located near
the loadout bin. Mr. Bear was not sure what to do with the excess
material. I mentioned that another operator in the valley was
looking for excess material. The operator may consider stockpiling
the material for use as a subsoil upon final reclamation, depending
on the quality of the material. The quality was not examined by
the inspectors.
Excess Sooil and Development Waste
Mr. Bear informed the inspectors that underground development waste
has not been generated this year.
Reclamation Success
The inspectors reviewed site conditions at the Bear No. 1 and 2
Mines. A decision regarding Phase I, II and III bond release at
these two areas is pending. A decision is expected in the next 60
days. The areas appeared to be stable and have a good stand of
grass.
No problems requiring immediate attention were noted.
CEJ/033INSP.830
2
