r
• •
We next inspected the reclaimed waste rocWrefuse disposal area and the .
reclaimed Northern # t Mine. Again the 7/14/87 bond release inspection report
documents the status of the site during the Phase I Bond Release inspection.
Areas which were small sloughs and unstable as indicated on the bond release
report are now well vegetated and appear to be stable. A very small settlement
escarpment remains on the north facing slope slough area but it appears old and
the area appears stable. All areas here are well vegetated with almost no signs of
rill and gully erosion on the backfilled slopes. The channel reestablishment from the
spring/marsh area to the proposed permanent impoundment has held up very well
and is well vegetated. The proposed permanent impoundment was discharging
during the inspection. Water samples were not taken, discharge was clear and
NPDES reporting history is in compliance at this location. Pond embankment and
spillway areas appear stable and well vegatated. The gate was open at the eastern
end of the disturbed area at the Northern # 1 Mine. This concluded the inspection.
Telephone correspondence with Mr. Routen on 6/6/92 indicated the liability
insurance has been renewed and the permittee has until 6/30/92 to renew the
NPDES permit or the MLRD will take an enforcement action for the expired permit.
Pertormance standards indicated as not applicable do not exist on site.
