Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ~~-~Q~8-08n -
INSPECTION DATE: ~n-~R-04 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: _J.IIs)_
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was made in response to a request from Lincoln County for partial release from reclamation
responsibility. Don Blake, County Land Use Administrator. accompanied me on the inspection.
The permit (affected land areal was issued for 4.3 acres. Lincoln Counfv has requested to be released from any
further reclamation responsibility for 2.8 acres of the permit area. leaving 1.5 acres in the permit to be mined
and reclaimed. The 1.5 acres appear to be mined out. Mr. Blake stated that the County intends to amend the
permit later. adding acreage for future mining at the site.
The 2.8 acres area is on the west end of the pit. it was walked, and the area was found to be stable and fairly
well established in rangeland grasses. The extent of the release request area was marked with steel t-posts set
In the north and south boundary lines. Topsoil appears to have been replaced in accordance with the permit.
The reclamation grades do not appear to exceed 3h:ly. The vegetation is a combination of natural climax
stage species of the succession of rangeland plants that have established from seed blown in from the
surrounding rangeland gnd seed planted as part of the reclamation work. the vegetation has not been grazed
and the stand is nearly equal in extent to that of the surrounding area. There are small localized areas of kocia
weeds: however, they should be crowded out soon as the perennial grasses spread. The area requested for
release has been satisfactorily reclaimed to rangeland and minimally meets the requirements of the
reclamation standards of Rule 3.1.
The Division suggests that Lincoln County fence off or otherwise permanently identity the Ignd as reclaimed and
not to be re-disturbed. Th(s is only suggested to prevent future equipment operators at the pit from inadvertently
damaging the area and causing a possible vlolatlon of the permit.
The Division will release Lincoln County from further reclamation responsibility of the 2.8 acres by separate letter.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Don Blake.
