T <br />III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />On July 13, 1998, William J. Carter from the Division of Minerals and Geology performed a complete <br />inspection of the Eastside Mine. The weather was clear and warm during the inspection. <br />Availability of Records: <br />See "DMG Availability of Records" at the end of this report. <br />Hydrologic Balance: <br />• There was no water in any of [he ditches or the sediment pond at the time of this inspection. <br />• Maintenance has yet to be performed on the clean water diversion ditch at the time of this <br />inspection. <br />• The rock downdrain south of the sediment pond continues to need minor repair. <br />Revegetation: <br />The vegetation throughout the mine continues to look good, even with the hot and dry conditions that <br />are so prevalent at this time. <br />Slides and Damaee: <br />There continues to be no erosion damage other than that noted for the clean water diversion ditch and <br />the rock downdrain. <br />Others: <br />Weed control: <br />In an extensive search for noxious weeds, only one Houndstoung plant was found. This weed <br />along with its seed was bagged and removed from the site by the inspector. <br />
