(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-2001-087
INSPECTION DATE 10/30/06 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS RCO
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was performed by the Division as part of its monitoring of Construction Materials 112c permits. This office
attempted to contact the operator by phone; a voice mail message was left notifying the operator of the inspection date. There
was no activity at the site and the operator was not present during the inspection.
There was a permit ID sign posted at the locked gate to the site, and the southern boundary corners were marked by steel T-
posts. The permitted activity has been confined to the southern end of the site, and all disturbance appears to be within the
boundary. The operator has limited the footprint of disturbance, which minimizes the opportunity for weed growth and
deterioration of the site prior to actual mining.
The pit is shallow and side slopes are generally dozed down to 3:1 gradients or less. There are stockpiles of pitrun, gravel and
fines. Drainage all appears to be contained in the pit. The sideslopes exhibit material ranging from loose, well decomposed
aggregate to barely weathered bedrock. The finer material and overburden is fairly erodible, so it is appropriate that the
operator maintain the slopes at gentle gradient. Final reclamation should probably include rough slope surtaces to inhibit
erosion.
Topsoil is stripped ahead of mining. There were 3 stockpiles of topsoil observed. They are not weedy, but they are not well
vegetated for protection against erosion. If there are stockpiles that will not be replaced for reclamation for a year or more, they
should be seeded. Please review the mining or reclamation plan for the seedmix and season of application. At this time there
is no problem. If weed infestation or erosion is observed during future inspections, the topic of "topsoil" may become a
problem.
There was no equipment stored onsite, and no fuel, contaminants, parts or debris. There were no noxious weeds. The site is
operated antl kept in a neat, orderly condition.
There were an abundance of deer tracks noted on the topsoil around the margins of the pit.
No further items were observed during the inspection. Responses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Bob Oswald; phone no. 970-
247-5193.
I & E Contact Address cc: Tony Waldron, DRMS
^ CE
NAME Terrv Acton ^ BL
OPERATOR Fremont County Road and Bridge Dept. ^ FS
STREET 615 Macon Ave..
