Cover is excellent due to
abundant moisture this year. No trespass grazing has been observed so far this season.
Species diversity is excellent at this site. Next year will be the ninth growing season for this
site
Offsite Suooort Facd~ties
The two former New Elk mine ventilation shaft facilities in Apache Canyon were inspected.
These two small areas are the subjects of a pending revision (TR-56) requesting a change in
land use to Industrial for these two areas. Construction of roads to access methane gas
wells has encroached on these two areas. Especially at the upper site, more than half of the
reclaimed area has been stripped of vegetation due to this construction.
No changes have occurred at the NW-1 ventilation shaft on private land north Highway 12
The site remains prepped for future sealing of the shaft.
The concrete cap on the upper vent has been repaired. A larger cap has been poured over
the existing cap to seal cracks that developed over time at this former shaft. The fence
surrounding the cap was in good condition and the gate was padlocked.
